The last part of the former St. Joseph's primary school is demolished
Demolition works are nearing completion at the old St Joseph's CBS site, something which has been welcomed by local councillors.
'St Joseph's was a part of Gorey's history. I remember going in as a child myself with the late Michael Fitzpatrick to learn the tin whistle.
'Since it stopped functioning as a national school, it slowly deteriorated and became a blight on the town with anti-social behaviour, becoming a nuisance for neighbours with the ongoings happening at all hours of the night.
'It's a welcome relief now that it's gone,' said Cllr Anthony Donohoe.
Developments at the site are at phase one, and construction of housing and some parking is expected to take place later this year in the next phase.
