MMAFighting reports that multiple sources confirmed that a women's strawweight title fight is in the works between champion Weili Zhang and former champion Joanna Jedrzejcyzk for UFC 248 in March. Verbal agreements have reportedly been put together and contracts are expected to be sent any time.

The UFC has not yet announced the matchup. Weili Zhang defeated Jessica Andrade to win the title at UFC on ESPN+ 15 last August in Shenzhen, China. Jedrzejcyzk is coming off an October victory over Michelle Waterson at UFC on ESPN+ 19. That was after she had moved up in weight in a losing effort to Valentina Shevchenko for the women's flyweight title. This will be Zhang's first title defense.

UFC 248 is scheduled for March 7, 2020. The event does not yet have a venue or location that has been officially announced as of yet.
