Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara def. Dustin Rhodes and Hangman Adam Page via pinfall
This match was fantastic. Watch it. That's all I am going to say. When it is posted, go to YouTube and watch it. Until then, enjoy these clips:
Wow. I mean I'm speechless. AEW has ended their first two shows with fantastic endings, unlike a certain WWE PPV. Of course last week was the forming of the "Inner Circle", and now this week we saw them facing off against the Elite with help from some other guys. Let's recount what happened. After Jericho and Sammy won their tag match, them and Jake Hager proceeded to beat up Dustin. Hangman then came in to help Dustin which proved unsuccessful as him and Hager then brawled.
As Dustin was alone getting double teamed, the lights went out in the arena. When the lights came on, the crowd saw Cody standing there, ready to get dirty. Cody was then jumped by Santana and Ortiz, who were jumped by MJF, who was jumped my Jericho, who was jumped by the Young Bucks. Yeah, that's totally not confusing and insane. To make it even crazier, Darby Allin then skateboarded down the ramp to beat up Jericho before ending the show in the ring with The Elite, MJF, and Dustin Rhodes. Like I said. I'm speechless.
Now with every amazing positive comes a disappointing negative. Over the last few years we have seen the women's revolution prove that the women can outshine the men. However with AEW, that hasn't happened yet. Let's take a look at NXT. They have a dominant champ in Shayna Bazler who has had the belt for almost a year. They have great babyfaces in Candace LaRae, Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox, along with great heels such as Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley(sort of).
Now let's transition back to AEW. They have a feud between Britt Baker and Bea Priestly which is alright, and a champ who doesn't feel like the champ in Riho. Don't get me wrong, these women are fantastic performers. However, they just aren't more entertaining currently than the women in WWE. This can of course always change, but for now their women's division is their weakness.
Jon Moxley is a fantastic wrestler. He is the future of pro wrestling. He is simply amazing. Now that I got my weekly marking done, let's get into this segment tonight. After Moxley beat Shawn Spears with the Paradigm Shift, Kenny Omega came out with a broom and a bat both covered with barbed wire. He then threw the bat to Mox signaling an all out brawl between these top stars. Before fans could flip out, PAC came from behind to take out Kenny. This makes me think that there's the possibility of adding PAC into this match between Omega and Moxley.
The reason I completely agree with this decision is because that would make this match a no dq match. With triple threat rules, there is no dq, which would allow for not only a return of the Cleaner, but also Moxley using his weapons he is known for using and for PAC to be a complete bastard. Now back to marking. Please do this AEW. This could easily go down as match of the year.
This show was easier to watch for me than last week. All the matches tonight were pretty solid, along with a killer promo from Jericho. Tonight showed that AEW can indeed keep their momentum going and have a good two weeks of television. Now it's on to Philly, which I am much more excited for than I was this morning.
