PROVIDENCE - Shawmut Design and Construction has completed renovations at 164 Angell St., a building formerly known as the Brown Office Building on the Brown University campus.

The work included renovations of the second, third and fourth floors, converting the space for multidisciplinary academic uses. Changes made include updated elevators, installation of a glass curtain wall to replace the precast facade, and state-of-the-art conference rooms and up-to-date technology.

The work was done in concert with the Architecture Research Office. The building is a new hub for research, education and innovation. Occupants include the Carney Institute for Brain Science, the Center for Computational Molecular Biology, the Data Science Initiative and the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, according to a news release from Shawmut.
