Beijing: Hong Kong's fire service, hospital authority, train service and police have held a joint press conference to deny a rumour that three protesters died inside the Prince Edward MTR station.

The rumour of deaths on August 31, when riot police ran through a train carriage with batons and pepper spray, has prompted continued attacks by protesters on MTR (Mass Transit Railway) stations.

Protesters have gathered each night since August 31 to lay white flowers outside Prince Edward station.

In response to public demands that MTR Corporation release CCTV footage of the incident at the station, the company released 13 still images with time stamps. They include images of the seriously injured people being transported by fire service ambulance officers.
